Privacy policy

ClearTags is designed as a local tool. Selected images, audio and video are inspected and cleaned in your browser and are not uploaded to a ClearTags server.
Data being processed
The application temporarily reads the selected file, including C2PA Content Credentials, EXIF, XMP, IPTC and technical media-container data. This data is used to create the report and, when requested, a clean derived copy on the current page.
Where processing happens
Parsing and cleanup are performed by client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly modules. The media file stays on your device. Audio and video cleanup loads a self-hosted FFmpeg WebAssembly module only when needed. When the page is closed or refreshed, the report and selected file are removed from browser memory.
Clean copies
When you request cleanup, ClearTags creates a new derived file in browser memory. The original is not modified. The clean copy leaves the page only when you choose to download it.
Storage and analytics
The current prototype does not create accounts, store files, use advertising identifiers or set analytics cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated before those features are enabled.
Downloaded reports
If you download a JSON report, your browser stores it on your device. It can contain sensitive fields from the original file, so handle it with the same care as the original.
